- Hotel Indiana -
Adresse : 16, El Saraya Street, Dokki
The hotel is just a short walk from
the west bank of the Nile and Cairo Sheraton. If you continue over the
Galaa Bridge and past Cairo Opera House, then it's not long before you
cross a second bridge and have reached the east bank and the Egyptian
Museum. With other words, you live quite in the middle of town at
Indiana Hotel.
Indiana is a hotel of choice by many
- first of all because of its friendly staff and it's owner and general
manager Madam Koka.
Secondly it got a good location
downtown on the west bank of the Nile, just a short walk from Cairo
Sheraton, the Nile and the Cairo Opera House.
The area is quiet to be downtown Cairo, and in short reach to the
nightlife of the metropolis - and easy to get to the pyramids that's
located on the desert border of greater Cairo's west bank. So if an
inexpensive and friendly hotel with a local touch is what you are
looking for.
The hotel got 115 rooms, all with
air-conditioning, satellite TV and telephone. A small swimming pool, but
as this is not heated - its only open from spring to fall.
24 hour room service, two simple
restaurants where the chief can surprise you with a good local flavored
food as international dishes.
One of the restaurants are on the roof, and sitting in the open air area
here one can get a view to the Nile that runs close by.
El-Saray Restaurant offers oriental
and western dishes, and it's the same place where breakfast is served in
the morning. If you are lucky you may experience a local wedding in El-Saray
one of the evenings you stay here.
At the first floor there is a coffee
shop and a smaller but nice bar. The top floor has a larger bar and a
good view over the town.
